Residential Projects - Across the North East
A customer relationship built on responsive support, technical expertise and practical solutions.
Crendon Timber Engineering’s Washington branch has worked with Sterling Timber Frame on a number of residential projects across the North East.
Through close collaboration, Crendon Washington has supported Sterling Timber Frame with engineered timber solutions including Posi-Joist metal web joists, Attic Trusses and Glulam beams, helping to deliver practical, buildable designs that suit both the timber frame layouts and on-site requirements.
The relationship is built around clear communication, technical knowledge and a responsive approach. Crendon’s Washington team works closely with Sterling Timber Frame from quotation and design through to delivery, helping to keep projects moving efficiently.
Darras Hall, Newcastle upon Tyne
For this detached property, Crendon designed and supplied Posi-Joist metal web joists to suit Sterling Timber Frame’s general arrangement plans, using a standard joist depth while coordinating with several supporting steel beams.
The roof package included Attic Trusses designed around a stairwell opening and several Velux windows, helping to create usable space within the roof structure. When an additional Glulam beam was required on-site, Crendon responded quickly and arranged delivery within 48 hours, helping to minimise disruption to the build programme.
Seaham, Co Durham
At Murton Road, Crendon supplied a Posi-Joist metal web joist floor solution incorporating multiple joist depths and a back-to-back Posi-Joist arrangement, where one joist profile was designed to carry the opposite side of the floor run. The design also included several laminated Glulam beams around the stairwell opening, together with Attic Trusses to create habitable roof space and accommodate Velux windows.
Working Together
A key strength of the relationship is the communication between Crendon Washington and Sterling Timber Frame’s team on-site. Crendon’s experienced designers worked closely with Sterling’s in-house joiners to incorporate installation considerations during the design process. This helps identify small but important design adjustments that can make installation smoother and more efficient.
