Lee Hembury FASTRACK winner!
Congratulations to Lee Hembury our Planning & Production Manager at Glastonbury who is a Crendon FASTRACK Winner.
Sheer determination saw Glastonbury motorbike road racer, Lee Hembury achieve his first-ever pure road race win in a thrilling race in the Isle of Man Steam Packet International Southern 100 on Wednesday 10th July.
Qualifying in 6th place, the Supersport Race began with Hembury dropping to 9th place. Finding his rhythm around the 4.25-mile Billown Circuit, slowly but surely Hembury picked off those in his way. With only 1.6 seconds separately the top seven, Hembury moved to 7th then to 6th. With two laps to go Hembury was charging hard and clocked the quickest lap of the race as he moved into the leading fight. On the final lap of the seven-lap race, Hembury got into fourth place.
As the penultimate corner approached, Hembury saw his moment to pass the top three and get the crowds roaring in a stunning comeback. With less than 30 seconds of the race left, Hembury held his nerve and position to achieve a richly deserved first place having won by 0.773 seconds. Hembury’s final push saw him gain a second fastest lap of the race. And what a race it was! Dubbed ‘thrilling’ and ‘history-making’ by the race commentators and Manx Radio, Hembury and his competitors certainly had spectators enthralled and celebrating such a momentous finish.
